Company History
Weusthoff Trading has a longstanding history as a South African engineering supplier. Celebrating its service excellence to a widespectrum of industrial clients, the company looks back on the past four decades with pride.
The industrial holding company Dr. Weusthoff GmbH of Duesseldorf, Germany, opened a representative office in Johannesburg in 1981.
Shortly afterwards the German principals registered Weusthoff South Africa (Pty) Ltd as a subsidiary, which was bought out by management in 1986. From the onset the company focused on the importation of special steels and related products.
Since its founding in 1981, the company supplied toll steels and special forgings from the Dr. Weusthoff GmbH's Reckhammer Steel Works in Germany, and has been part of most of the larger engineering and trading partners.
Weusthoff South Africa, for example, supplied tubing, piping and fittings to major past engineering and construction preojects including SASOL II & III, the Matimba and Koeberg power stations, SA Brewery plants and SAPPI Ngodwana.
The Market
The Company has evolved into a specialized steel and metals supplier covering the full spectrum of the South African industry from mining and extraction, paper and pulp and fertilizer to power generations.
Training & Education
The company has a proud record of in-house training and co-operates closely with the commercial training programmes offered through the SA-German Chamber of Trade & Industry and its relevant SETA
Enterprise Development
In 2001 Weusthoff Trading supported young colleagues, who had been trained by the company, to form Nqaba Industrial Supplier cc, which successfully took over most of the company's energy business, dealing directly with the region's energy producers.
Employees
Over the years the company has developed a team of professional staff members. some of whom have since become shareholders in the business. The company's experienced staff, most boasting long service records, provide the technical, commercial, logistical and management qualities Weusthoff's customers expect from the company, enabling it to supplye services with a high level of expertise and commitment to support the industry, not only in South Africa, but across the southern Africa region.
Location
A few years ago Weusthoff consolidated office and warehouse premises and is now located at Northlands Business Park in Northriding. Our Warehouse for strategic stock items has cranage and cutting facilities for diameters of up to 650mm dia.
Certification
In 2001 In 2013 Weusthoff Trading was certified ISO 9001 while already having a longstanding and proud record of working in close cooperation with all the major international and Domestic AIAs and independent laboratories. Weusthoff initially audits, and continuously monitors, its worldwide supply sources to ensure quality and performance as per its ISO certification terms. It's German sister company assists with the sourcing in Europe through additional expediting assistance and logistical support.
